Bo Dietl’s Endorsement
I am a bit late to the Irish-themed reunion party thrown by Bravo and The Real Housewives of New Jersey in April. First things first, it was a sound stage of interior castle design greatness. Brava, Bravo.
Long story short, season 13 didn’t suck. And the ladies, Melissa Gorga, Teresa Giudice, Dolores Catania, Margaret Josephs, Rachel Fuda, Jennifer Aydin, and Danielle Cabral, looked stunning at the reunion. Biggest shoutout to Marge: flawless.
My Housewives claim to fame is two-fold: Katie Rost, of the Real Housewives of Potomac, is my Sigma Delta Tao sorority sister from Boston University, and Jackie Goldschneider is still “Jackie Mark” in my cell phone; she was one of the amazing crew of Delta Gamma ladies, my other pledging “pref”!
And, you know, yours truly loves herself her Jersey roots.
Back to Bergen County … Jackie is an old friend and things are heating up with Teresa’s storyline. For those Housewives fans out there, wasn’t it like two seconds ago Teresa was asking Jackie to set her up with a Jewish man? Teresa got herself a man and a storyline in the blink of an eye. Impressive?!? Hmm.
So yes, Teresa got married. The first thing I continue to think of re the big day is Ramona Singer’s leak. So dumb. So funny. And, let’s face it, the real wedding hashtag winner was likely in reference to The Hair.
Gotta love a Jersey wedding, is right.
Her second time down the aisle (with only one Bravo special, vs her three, notes Tamara Judge) was to meet Luis Ruelas. Towards the end of the season, “Louie” gets so heated at Dolores’ Prohibition Party that no amount of makeup could take the redness out of his face. The shade of red was legit.
He started yelling and carrying on about ALLLL the dirt Bo Dietl has on everyone in the cast. He then doubled down the next morning around a breakfast table with Jenn and Dolores about this dude and his files. I genuinely thought Bo Dietl was a cultural reference that I just missed in the prior scene, and, you know, life … but no … this guy’s name, and Brand, is here to stay. At least on my blog.
So Mr. Dietl has since “set the record straight” and said Louie didn’t hire him, and Louie should never have brought his name up on the show, in any sort of professional private investigator way. In addition to being a retired NYC Police Officer, a Private Investigator and radio show host, turns out he was nominated for Congress in 1986, his autobiography was made into a movie, and he was once even a NYC Mayoral candidate. Louie, you should be more protective of one of your best friends! Wait, where was he at the wedding?
With a major staircase on set behind him, Andy turns to Louie in an attempt to get Teresa and Melissa to stop speaking over one another. “In the finale you said, Bo Dietl, who, who is this famous … PI?” is a direct quote from Any Cohen to Ruelas. Endorsements, what? (Jenn Aydin jokes aside, I really did first think “Bo Dietl” was some kind of modern day Yogi Berra reference)
I asked google how many times Bo Dietl’s name was mentioned in the show and I didn’t care to really start digging below the fold. Point being, talk about “earned media”?!?
All the Gorga family drama, public relations smear campaigns, and “don’t bring the kids into it” housewives drama questions aside … my real question is how much is all the press worth to Mr. Dietl’s marketing team?! I would love to see his month-on-month listener stats for his radio show. Maybe sponsoring his show is a good “endorsement” opportunity for Jenn’s public relations team!
Of course no great Irish party is missing a great toast … to Dolores!
“Here’s to cheating, fighting, stealing, and drinking … if you cheat, may you cheat death … if you fight, may you fight for your friends … if you steal, may you steal the hearts of the people you love, and if you drink … may you toast to us being together (sic)"
Cheers, readers, thanks for stopping by.
