Admiral in every way

NOTE: The blog below was originally published on June 1, 2022. On January 16, 2025 President Trump fired Coast Guard commandant, Admiral Lina L. Fagan. Per the Department of Homeland Security, Admiral Fagan was dismissed from duties because of “leadership deficiencies, operational failures and inability advance the strategic objectives of the U.S. Coast Guard.” ##

The U.S. Armed Forces are comprised of six military branches: the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marines, the Coast Guard, and Space Force. Today, for the first time, one got a female top boss. A mother, who is setting an incredible example for her children, and children throughout the U.S., alike, today.

Congratulations to Admiral Linda L Fagan are in order. As the NYTimes said today, “Adm. Linda L. Fagan will shatter one of the glass ceilings of the Military Wednesday when she takes the oath as commandant of the Coast Guard and becomes the first female officer to lead a branch of the United States armed forces.” She has served with the Cost Guard for nearly four decades, and on every continent. I didn’t make it to all when I was with Expedia (but came close!). And yes, serving our country and marketing corporate partnerships with hotels, not the same.
