Wardle's Wordle
Josh Wardle, a Welsh software engineer, created Wordle in Brooklyn, NY in October 2021, and ultimately sold it to the NYTimes in 2022. It was a side hustle during his work stint at Reddit where he was working on a few other social-experiment online games.
Ask my son what I was most upset about when he accidentally obliterated my iPhone last month, and he will, correctly, tell you the mishap adversely-affected my Wordle streak.
I am back at it, and, to be honest, have fallen behind a few times in search of starting a new, substantial streak.
Oh Wordle, how I love to hate you. And now blog about you.
Today‘s puzzle has me thinking bigger picture than the solution itself.
Wordle will end on October 20, 2027. That is, that’s the day all 2,315 five letter American English words will have been filtered through. Saving you a bunch of math, Mr. Wardle’s launch game was on November 1, 2021.
My hope is I can up my three or better “guess distribution”. 🤞🏼
And yes, that first guess is legit. It was a few weeks ago, and a few more of those before the words run out would be welcome.
Here it is from a screenshot of a boasting text I sent that day, February 20 of this year.
🍭 Sweet.
