Traveling with Littles … 🗽NYC edition

Oh, New York! The city that never sleeps, where even a whirlwind weekend can leave you feeling like you’ve conquered the world (or at least 10,000 steps). Buckle up as we dive into a March weekend itinerary that’s part history, part hustle, and all kinds of indulgence.

Last trip we stayed at the Lotte New York Palace, perched between Madison and Park on E 50th (yes, that Palace, where Serena Van Der Woodsen probably left her drama in the lobby). But no time for Upper East Side gossip, we’ve got bagels to eat. First stop: H&H Bagels. Don’t let anyone tell you New York is about pizza—this city runs on cream cheese and doughy perfection.

With your breakfast of champions in hand, it’s time for a stroll up 5th Avenue. Window-shop your way to Central Park and pause for a moment at The Plaza (768 5th Ave) because nothing says “I’ve arrived” quite like sipping tea at 1:45 pm in the grandest hotel in all of Manhattan. Pinkies up, people.

After tea, it’s time for Midtown madness. Head to Rockefeller Center where you can check off Saks Fifth Avenue, St. Patrick’s Cathedral (feeling blessed yet?), and every kid-at-heart’s dream: the LEGO Store. If you’re still looking for a bit of magic, pop into the Harry Potter Store for a dose of Hogwarts before indulging in world-class Swiss chocolates at Teuscher.

Next up: Top of the Rock for views that will leave your Instagram followers green with envy, and then maybe sneak into the Rainbow Room for a cocktail with a side of Art Deco glam.

Dinner calls at Benihana (47 W 56th)—because let’s face it, dinner and a show all in one go is always a win. And just when you think your taste buds can’t handle another delight, you’re off to Serendipity 3 (225 E 60th St) for frozen hot chocolate. It’s over-the-top and totally necessary.

Day two begins with a little taste of Paris in NYC at Nice Matin (201 W 79th). You’ll sip your cappuccino while pretending you’re in the heart of St. Germain, but let’s not get too carried away—there are mammoths to see.

It’s off to the American Museum of Natural History where your itinerary includes the awe-inspiring Hall of Ocean Life (yes, we’re talking about that blue whale), the majestic Hall of Dinosaurs, and, because who doesn’t love a little fluttering magic, the Butterfly Conservatory.

After exploring prehistoric creatures and the wonders of nature, it’s time to unwind in Central Park—head to the zoo, take a spin on the carousel, or shop along Madison Avenue. Hungry again? Don’t forget to grab a burger at JG Melon. And trust me, the fries are worth it. Your body will thank you.

Feeling fancy? It’s time to channel your inner fashionista with a stop at the Met Costume Institute, then catch a sunset cocktail at the Cantor Rooftop Garden before exploring the Arms & Armour collection. You’ll be feeling like royalty in no time.

Sadly, your Sardi’s dinner has been canceled (it happens), but no worries, the real magic begins at 7 pm with the Harry Potter Show (214 W 43rd St). Wizardry, wonder, and just the right amount of nostalgia.

Rise and shine—it’s time to explore Chelsea Market (75 9th Ave). Start with a coffee (and maybe a pastry or two) before heading to STK Meatpacking for a brunch that’s all burgers, all the time.

From there, lose yourself in optical illusions at the Museum of Illusions (77 8th Ave), where reality bends and flexes in ways that will make you question everything. (Except how good you looked at brunch. That’s a fact.)

The afternoon is yours for colorful fun at the Color Factory (251 Spring St)—you can roll in anytime, and trust me, you’ll want to. While you’re in the area, swing by the Friends apartment building (90 Bedford St), because, well, photo op. Afterward, do some shopping at Nike Soho or Wolf & Badger on Broadway for that unique, can’t-find-anywhere-else item.

Dinner in Little Italy at Paesano (136 Mulberry St)? Yes, please. End your day with a classic pasta dish and maybe a cannoli or two for good measure. The photo ops are a plenty.

And just before you think you’ve seen it all, take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry for one last look at that iconic skyline.

End your whirlwind weekend in the most epic way: head up to The Edge at Hudson Yards for sweeping views that will leave you breathless (or at least a little winded). Afterward, recharge with some Bonefly (still in Hudson Yards, because why stray when you’ve found perfection?).

In the city that never sleeps, you’ve lived, loved, and eaten your way through Manhattan. Until next time, NYC—there’s always more to explore!
